A horror game that mixes genres
Covering only the first chapter, Suffer the Night (Demo) is a free-to-download demo of the first-person horror title with the same name. Set in a stormy Sleepy Woods in 1989, Stacey Linden finds a peculiar envelope at the doorstep, and inside it is a floppy disk containing the titular action game.
Play the dungeon crawler
This title from TaintedPact Games, in essence, is a game within a game. Once Stacey has picked up and started playing Suffer the Night on her computer, she’ll find that it’s a choose-your-own-adventure dungeon crawler, complete with player choices, immersive descriptions, and pixel-style backgrounds.
Be sure to step away from the computer to check up on strange occurrences in your house, as Mr. Tops — the antagonist in a top hat — can break into your abode and kill you. Unfortunately, the small font size makes the dialogue a bit unreadable, potentially affecting player enjoyment.
Gives you a taste of what it offers
Though it only includes the first chapter, Suffer the Night (Demo) brings in the perfect blend of first-person horror and text-based adventure in a single heart-thumping title. However, the barely readable font size of the dialogue is one flaw that can make the game less enjoyable.
